Did you know you can go on automatic delivery at the same low fuel price! If you cannot check your tank let us know, we will put you on automatic delivery free of charge. Even if you just don't want the burden of remembering to check your tank and now call in your order, we will put you on automatic free of charge! Of course calling in for oil is still fine but running out of fuel can wreak havoc with your system. If you run out of fuel because you forgot to order, call us anyway, we will definitely deliver. If your system may need to be re-started the driver will do this but please be sure an adult is home at the time of the delivery and be sure to tell him or the office when you call, that you need a re-start! If you wish to have automatic delivery reminder service, we will leave a message on your home telephone two days before the delivery so that you leave a check or make special arrangements should you need to. If for some unknown reason running out makes it necessary to have a service man replace your nozzle or filter this is chargeable if you are a call in customer. A low oil price and automatic delivery is the most effective way to heat your home in this busy world! We monitor your house deliveries based upon the weather, the house size, and the historical usage. We will never stuff your tank if the price is high. Degree day monitoring is very effective and we add additional technology each year to improve our service. While most of our customers do not need to be home to receive oil, if for some reason you must, remember we have limited Saturday deliveries. Sunday emergency deliveries are available however we must charge an additional fee.
WE NEVER GO TO SLEEP: Our office hours in the winter are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m in the winter and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the summer. There is a 24 hour telephone emergency service dispatcher will call a serviceman to meet your needs at night. He will respond as soon as possible and again you must answer the telephone when he calls you back to insure you really need him to come! An emergency is defined as "no heat" on a freezing night. Lack of hot water, thermostats not registering correctly, a non-life threatening situation is held until day time hours. Should you have no heat, do not delay call us and let us help you!
DON'T FREEZE YOUR LINES!!: If you have an outside tank with exposed oil lines, please be sure to ask us to add an anti gel additive to the tank. The driver may suggest you need an additive, he is doing this to insure you always have heat! If you are not sure please feel free to ask him! The line can also be wrapped with heat tape or insulation. Even the cleanest oil, which we only purchase from major certified suppliers, will gel in extreme temperatures. It is so easy for us to help you in advance of a problem. Simply give us a call or drop us an e-mail. We would rather stave off the problem now than have you worry when it's cold.
NANA SAID "SOAP IS CHEAP": Please be sure you have had your heating system tuned up within the last twelve months. Just like your car, once a year for maximum efficiency we will tune up your system. This can reduce your fuel costs as well! Tune ups are primarily done during the warmer months so we can focus on emergency calls in the winter.
SAFETY FIRST: Familiarize yourself and your family with some key information about your home. Each adult member of the household should know where the reset button on the furnace is and the emergency shut off switch. In most cases should your power go out, you can restart your furnace or burner by simply pressing the reset button, but only once! It is also important to know where your electrical breakers or fuses are should you need to reset or replace them! This can save you a service call. If your breaker pops and you have no heat simply reset the breaker and press the reset button on the furnace but again, only once. Please know where the fill and vent pipe are to your oil tank and keep it clear so the driver can get to it. Planting gardens, hose reels or ornamental items around fill pipes makes it very difficult to deliver your oil safely. Please be sure your fill and vent are always clear and accessible.
If SNOW IS ON THE WAY!: We may schedule your delivery a little earlier if snow is on the way or we will come right after the streets are clear, but we will be there for you! If we cannot get in to do your delivery we will automatically reschedule it for the next day.
IF WE HAVE TO COME IN A PRIVATE ROAD OR DRIVEWAY IT BE PLOWED AND SANDED TEN FEET WIDE. OIL TRUCKS ARE NOT Four wheel DRIVE AND DO NOT BEHAVE AS CARS. They slosh and slide, if the driver gets stuck in your driveway, the remainder of his customers will not get their oil! If the truck goes over it could be an environmental disaster or someone could be hurt. We simply will not risk the drivers life or take a chance if it is not safe to enter the driveway. Fill pipes are difficult to find in deep snow. Fill pipes should be easily accessible, free from debris, shoveled out and must be within 100 feet from where the truck can safely stop. Remember drivers cannot stop to shovel out fills or climb through deep snow as they do too many deliveries per day. They will do everything they can to safely deliver, but please be sure to plow or sand before the truck is scheduled to arrive. It really helps to tie a red ribbon to the fill pipe so it is easily identifiable.
LEAVE THE LIGHT ON!: If you are expecting your delivery and it is after dark, please leave the light on. Please do not call two oil companies to deliver. We know some companies simply do not show up but rest assured if we commit to a delivery we will be there. If your delivery is rescheduled you will receive a telephone call. This happens rarely but if you are scheduled and the weather turns or a truck is out of service we will be there the next day.
Call and racing oil companies, thinking who ever shows up first will get the delivery is very dangerous! You are risking a serious oil spill and an environmental disaster. Protect your home and your property, it is not the companies fault if you race two oil companies and there is a spill. You will have to pay for the clean up and this cost can be extreme.
Remember too that we absolutely love dogs, but they do not always love us. Please keep your pets safe and warm inside when your oil delivery arrives! The smartest and nicest dogs often react adversely to a stranger in their home or yard. They are just doing their job!
WE ALL NEED TO BREATHE: AS THE OIL GOES IN THE AIR MUST GO OUT: All oil tanks must have a vent alarm in order to prevent an over fill. We will not fill a tank that is not properly vented. All openings on the tank and piping must be sealed and a whistle installed. As the driver fills the tank the whistle blows insuring the air is coming out of the tank when the oil goes in. When the whistle stops the driver stops pumping. If your tank is not properly vented you risk an over fill, a rupture and a spill. No one ever wants this to happen. Please be sure the vent is clear as well as the fill pipe. Please be sure your gauge is properly situated and tight on top of your tank, if it is in your basement or garage. The driver cannot check this from outside the house. We want to deliver safely and cannot foresee if work has been done or something has changed even if we delivered safely many times before. If you make any changes at all please let us know when placing your order or if you are on automatic delivery give us a quick call. All your heating and hot water needs are important to us! No question is dumb or too trivial, ask us, we are here to help!
Special Notes! If you have changed the color of your house, abandoned or modified your tank, have a new phone number or new house number please update your information with us. Drivers often need updated directions as houses are painted or tanks are modified. Please post your house number so that it is clearly visible from the street. While we have been delivering for over thirty years, the new information is critical, to us, police, fire or an ambulance should there ever be a need. I take great pride in our company, community, employees and each customer is very important to me. I thank you for your continued business. Should you ever have an issue, complaint, question or problem I want to hear from you! Call us or email me, my email address is Sclafanim@aol.com. Our office manager is Sclafanioil@aol.com and our advertising address is Sclafanioil@aol.com. We can't help if we don't know! Nothing is too trivial or unimportant to bring to our attention!
